Why The 80’s Is The Best DecadeRemember that time that rock was in style?  Everyone wore fanny packs, mullets were in style, and the Breakfast Club was a hit movie. Well then you are probably right if you were thinking the 80’s era.  “Today, the ’80s are thought of as a time full of frosted blue eyeshadow, bright neon clothes, and huge hair.” The decade 1980, is by far the most cherished decade for their popular colourful clothing, songs and movies  that are still watched and listened to today, and legendary video games that are still everyone’s favourite.  The 80’s was a time that we all wished we could have lived in. To begin with, the 80s was a time that many people focussed on how they dressed, it was all about that huge curly hair and wearing  bright coloured spandex.  The clothing in the 1980s was a big part in their day to day lives.  “1980s fashion can be commended for its creativity”  Although clothing in that time looked to be silly now of days, back then it was fine.  The clothing tended to show the personality of that certain person.  If someone had a passion for rock music they would dress wearing rock style clothing.  Not to mention, the competition of  who wore it the best was something they focussed on.  In school students were competitive on how they looked and who wore the best outfit.  Bright colored accessories like sunglasses, bangles and hoop earrings were a necessity. “Teased hair, loud makeup and neon were an important part of this style.”  These styles were something that students focused  on the most other than their actual education.  When some popular girl would walk into the room with her new neon coloured dress with bright eyeshadow and huge frizzy hair, that is when everyone starts to think of dressing the same way or even trying to top it off by dressing better.  Although fashion was something everyone focussed on in the 1980s it will always be something everyone will remember now in the 20th century. That leads to my next topic 1980s legend video games.  Video games in this time was a big hit. From Pac-Man to Space invaders to Centipede to Asteroids, all these games had something special to people back then and in the 20th century.  Not to mention, other than the video game factor arcades also had a positive impact on people’s day to day life.  Collecting every 25 cents you find inside your couch and under your bed would lead to you meeting your friends at the arcade. The most loved games in the 80s is games like Donkey Kong, Asteroids, Galaga, Centipede but the by far most popular game of the 80s and maybe even of all time is Pac-Man.  Pac-Man is a game where you play as pacman and you need to eat all the dots in the map without interfering with Shadow, Speedy, Bashful and Pokey which is the Red,Pink,Blue and orange ghost chasing you around the map. In order to do the opposite and eat the ghost you need to eat the big white dot that will turn all the ghost blue and you are able to eat them for extra points.  All games in the arcades were really amazing and not only because of the game itself, people loved to get the new high score and typing in their 3 digit name into the machine for everyone to see. “Though 1980s arcade games were a far cry from today’s games with 3D graphics and graphic violence, these classic games remind us of a simpler time when titles like Pong or Asteroids were enough to entertain us for a few hours.”
