It eluded us then, but that’s no matter — tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther . . . . And one fine morning — So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.”(180).d.  At the end of The Great Gatsby, this quote reflects the the struggles of being successful in the American Dream.A passage from boats against currents,c. “But tomorrow, we’ll run a little bit faster Tomorrow, we’re going to find what we’re after at last Feelings that we left in the past There’s romance in the sunset We’re boats against the current to the end” d. This short lyrics gives out a message that a person who wants to achieve something out of the American Dream must work very hard and will be closer and closer once they do that. e. The American dream is one big tent. One big tent. And on that big tent you have four basic promises: equal protection under the law, equal opportunity, equal access, and fair share” In The Great Gatsby and Bodega dreams,Both main characters Willie Bodega and Jay Gatsby face some type of inequality weather it is wealth status or ethnicity.  “You and me have nothing in common…I’m Cuban, you’re Puerto Rican” (177).This quote from The Great Gatsby shows, that there is racism between races which makes opportunity limited and unfair in the American Dream.    c. “Whenever you feel like criticizing anyone,” he told me, “just remember that all the people in this world haven’t had the advantages that you’ve had.”(1) d. This statement is a piece of advice given by Jay Gatsby’s father how everyone doesn’t have the same level of opportunity as other do in life which creates the idea of inequality. c. “These empty dreams from the make-believe bedrooms their parents left them are the after-effects of television programs about the ideal white american family with black maids and latino janitors who are well train to make everyone and their bill collectors laugh at them and the people they represent” d. The White family are represented as wealthy Americans living a lavish lifestyle with Black and latino people working for them which they are immigrants. This shows the imagery and inequality between class and race. e.
