Good Morning my
fellow classmates and Ms. Rose. It is a great honor and privilege to be
speaking in front of all of you today. The quality of being human, such as the
ability to love and have compassion; the peculiar nature of man, by which he is
distinguished from other creatures. This is what we call humanity. Humanity
means caring for and helping others whenever and wherever possible. Humanity
means helping others at times when they need that help the most, it means
forgetting your selfish interests at times when others need your help.
The way of life
can be free and wonderful, but humans have lost the way. Greed has poisoned
men’s souls and barricaded the world with hate. Our knowledge has made us heartless.
We think too much and feel too little. Sometimes when I see the world, I see a
country divided by hatred, inequality, racism, and violence. We have created a
category, a class, or a group for every difference we have as a human. We have
found countless ways to divide ourselves, whether it’s race, gender, age,
culture, or religion.
When someone or
something threatens our peace, we will set aside our differences and work
together to fight an enemy, whether it’s natural disasters, corruption, gangs,
or political parties. We will keep on fighting until peace has been achieved.
But is that the only way we know how to love each other? When disasters hit?
When a life is on the line? When a mass shooting occurs? Why can’t we remember
that we are all in this together when everything is at peace and serenity?
There is one
enemy that we sometimes aren’t aware of, this enemy isn’t visible, this enemy
cannot be touched with weapons, it cannot be harmed with physical attacks. This
enemy lives inside of all of us, it’s the voice of doubt and fear that keeps us
down. This is our real enemy; this is the war we all have to fight inside
ourselves. We have millions of people supporting us when we’re under attack,
when we’re feeling down, so let’s do the same for them.
More than money,
we need humanity. More than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness.
Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost. The world
is filled with millions of despairing men, women, and little children. Let us
all unite and fight for a new world, a decent world that will give humans a
chance to live, that will give younger generations a future and old age a
security. Let us fight to free the world! To eliminate greed, hate and
