Virginia died of tuberculsis in Fordham, New York. Today, he would be 208 years old. How he died is still a mystery. They say that he had a high amount of alcohol in his body. He wrote with a cat on his shoulder. The cats name was Mittens. It was all black with little white paws. He would share his food with the cat. The cat used to follow him around everywhere he goes, to the kitchen, the landry room, the living room, and also, the bathroom. Here’s another fun fact: the cat would actually use the bathroom with him. The Tell- Tale Heart is a scary book just like the rest of his books. The Tell-Tale Heart is about this madman who is paranoid about this old man’s eye. It was an eye of a vulture. The eye was pale blue so it made it look ghost-like. Every night the madman (or narrator) would creep into the old man’s room and just stared at the eye. On the eight night, this idea popped into his head. He thought “Wouldn’t he just be a lot easier if he dropped dead?” The madman crept into the old man’s room. He opens the old man’s room door ever so slightly. (creek) The old man jerks up at the sound of his door being opened. He shouted “Who’s there?” The madman stood there without making a sound, peering into the room where the old man sat up on his bed. After the old man went back to sleep, the madman decapitated his body. Then, he cut the old man’s arms and legs off. The madman his all of his body parts. When the police came to ask questions about the missing man, the madman claimed that he didn’t see him. The madman heared screaming inside his head. So, he started screaming too! Then he riped the floor boards up where he hid the body. He showed the police the old man’s body. He got sent to jail for life. (Remember kids, there is always a creep in every neighborhood!) I loved this book. This book is one of the Top 10 scary stories written by Edgar Allan Poe.
